Abstract: The Greater East Asia Conference which I remember
Prof. Watanabe still remembers a song taught before the start of the war with a phrase “We are going to crush their 100-year ambition to invade and control East Asia.” So, liberation of the Asian nations was a common thought among the people at that time, he says. He also remembers all seven member’s name who attended the conference representing Asian nations. They were not a puppet of Japan but independent minded with a determination to become a really independent country from Western colonization.
