No.7: Chapter 6: The Big Lie of the Massacre of 20 Million Chinese

Rigg asserts that Japan launched a full-scale war against China in July 1937, with the “Marco Bridge Incident” on July 7. The war in China was not started by Japanese troops but by the Chinese army. On July 11, four days after the Incident, a local cease-fire was arranged. The first article of the agreement reads:
1. The representative of the 29th Army express regret to the Japanese military, and declares that they would take disciplinary action against those responsible and take responsibility to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
There were 5,600 Japanese troops stationed in northern China, allowed by the 1901 Peking Protocol to protect Japanese residents, facing 100,000 soldiers of the Chinese 29th Army in the area. Given such numbers, there was really no reason for Japan to start a war at that time.
After the war, in 1947, the Chinese Nationalist government (led by Chiang Kai-shek) announced that the number of civilians death in the Sino-Japanese War was 4.39 million. This number is, in fact, very questionable. Many Chinese civilians were injured and killed fleeing from Chinese troops. The greatest number of deaths caused by the Nationalists is the purposeful destruction of Yellow River levees to avoid pursuit by the Japanese army, “Operation Xuzhou,” in May 1938. Following the destruction of the levees, one million people drowned and 6 million people were injured. Nationalist propaganda blamed Japanese air raids on the levees caused the Yellow River to overflow, but Operation Xuzhou was later fully exposed to have emanated from Chiang Kai-shek. Sickeningly, Rigg states that, “Despite the enormous human losses, this desperate measure succeeded in preventing the Japanese from further conquering China.” The Nationalist army conducted more flooding operations, 12 more in fact, and burned their own cities, killing nearly three million Chinese in the process. So, if “4.39 million” Chinese were killed by the Japanese, then three million should be subtracted, leaving one million—a dubious number itself.
In 1985, the Chinese Communist Government claimed that “20 million” military and civilians died. And 10 years after that, in 1995, Jing Zemin announced that “35 million” died—all very sensible as Chinese communist propaganda. The Chinese Communists say whatever they want unopposed since there is no freedom of speech in China. For “20 million” deaths, 20 times 1 million and the Chinese Communists come up with “20 million”. We see how the Chinese Communists came up with “20 million” deaths.
